I love bourbon! Thanks to a trip to Louisville a number of years back, my fondness for the stuff grew even more. I particularly love the flavor it adds to dishes when used in cooking, especially sauces. This bourbon barbecue sauce is my go to for grilled or broiled chicken or pork.
Ingredients
½ cup ketchup
¼ cup bourbon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
½ tablespoon soy sauce
½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
Combine all ingredients into a small sauce pot and stir to combine. Bring the sauce to a boil, and then simmer for 10-12 minutes. Stir frequency while the sauce simmers and slightly reduces. After 10-12 minutes, remove from heat and allow to cool.
