WHEAT BREAD

The Tabantha region of Hyrule is vital to the kingdom for a number of reasons, but one reason in particular is the wheat that grows here. Tabantha Wheat is a staple across the kingdom, and it is the cornerstone for Hyrulean baking. One of the most basic of indulgences that comes from this wheat is bread. While walking through a Hylian village in the early morning, your nose will undoubtedly catch the wonderful aroma of a warm loaf of wheat bread being baked in one of the homes. It makes a wonderful accompaniment to many of Hyrule's main dishes, particularly stews.

"Made with wheat from the Tabantha region, this soft, springy bread smells just heavenly."

This recipe will yield two small loaves of wheat bread.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups bread flour

1 packet of yeast

1 cup warm water

1 tbsp honey

½ tbsp salt

1 tbsp olive oil

4 tbsp melted butter

Add yeast to one cup of warm water and whisk together. Allow the yeast 5 minutes to bloom (you should see bubbles forming on top of the water). Once the yeast has bloomed, add the honey and olive oil to the water and whisk.

In a standing mixture with a dough paddle attachment, add the flour and salt and mix and a low speed to combine. Turn the mixer off and then add the water mixture, and mix again at a low speed until the ingredients fully incorporate and a dough is formed. Scrape the sides of the bowl as needed to make sure everything mixes and combines. This should take about a minute it or two. Scrape off any dough stuck to the paddle and switch it out with a dough hook. Turn it back on at a low-medium speed and knead the dough, which should take approximately 6-10 minutes. The dough is done when it is smooth, holds its shape, and fills back in when you poke a hole in the dough. Form it into a bowl and time for it it rest.

Remove the dough from the mixer, and if it is not yet ready, place it onto a floured cutting board or other surface and knead the dough further by hand if necessary.

Grease a bowl with cooking spray. Place the dough in the bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for about an hour to an hour and a half (or until it doubles in size).

At this point, once it has doubled,  you can remove it from the bowl and split it evenly into two portions with a knife. Using your hands, roll each of the dough halves into an oval shaped loaf. You can work the ends a bit to get more of a football shape if you wish. Once you have shaped both of the dough balls into loaves, using a knife, make three equally spaced slits across the top of each loaf. This will create the decorative design on the top of the bread.

Gentle place each loaf on a separate baking sheet. I recommend lining the bottom of the baking sheet with some parchment paper to prevent sticking. Brush each loaf with some melted butter, and cover each with a towel to rest for 25 minutes.

In the meantime, preheat an oven to 350 degrees. After 25 minutes, brush each loaf with more butter and place them the oven for 20 minutes. After 20 min, increase the temperature 400 °F and cook for 5-10 minutes more, until the loaves turns golden and reach an internal temperature of 190 °F.

Remove he loaves from the oven, brush with melted butter one more time, and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes. The loaves are ready to eat. Serve with butter or to accompany a rich stew or soup!
