CHATEAU ROMANI

Clocktown is one of the most festive locations in the Zelda universe. Despite the tragedies brought onto Termina, the town throws quite the yearly festival, the Carnival of Time. I could imagine the people of Clocktown throwing an equally extravagant winter holiday with lights, decorations, music, performances, and activities for all ages. And I can think of nothing that would end an evening festival better than a late night at the Milk Bar sipping some of Romani Ranch’s finest, Chateau Romani. The “vintage” milk from Cremia and Romani’s specially bred cows is the preferred spirit of the townsfolk of Clocktown. A milk based liquor just seems perfectly suited for a winter holiday. Whether enjoying a sleigh ride through Clocktown, an evening of holiday song in the town square, or even just kicking one’s feet up by the fire at home, a glass (or bottle) of Chateau Romani just suits the mood.

To bring Chateau Romani to life as a spirit, I took inspiration from the milk punches of 18th century Europe and the southern United States. I also wanted a bit of an egg nog appeal to the drink. The resulting cocktail infuses a creamy milk base with bourbon, vanilla, and holiday spice.

Ingredients
4 oz whole milk
2 oz half and half
2 oz bourbon
2 oz simple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
⅛ tsp nutmeg
Ice

To make simple syrup for the drink, add ½ cup of water to a small pot over medium-low heat. Add ½ cup of sugar to the water and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved into the water. Once the sugar is completely dissolved into the water, remove from the heat. Pour the simple syrup into a container and place into the refrigerator to fully cool.

Add ice to a cocktail shaker, then add the milk, half and half, bourbon, and simple syrup. Top the mix with the vanilla extract and nutmeg. Secure the lid and cap on the cocktail shaker, and shake to fully blend the ingredients. Remove the cap and pour the drink (through the strainer) into a glass (or bottle). This will make two cocktails… or one large one! Enjoy!
