Goron spice is widely used across Hyrule to add spiciness and flavor to dishes such as seared and grilled meats and curries. To expand upon the spice flavoring in Hyrule, I added the Gerudo spice for pilafs and regional stews as well as Zora spice for seafood dishes.
For the often French inspired creations of the Rito regions of the kingdom (Tabantha and Hebra) I often used Herbes de Provence to add more flavor. As I begin to explore some other regional dishes, and poultry dishes in general, I am finding a need for a poultry spice rub. To fill this need, I have developed Rito spice! The Rito spice is a rub of ground dried herbs and some additional complementary spices. It includes ground anise and ground rosemary. If you cannot find these, you can grind down anise seed and crushed rosemary using a mortar and pestle. This poultry oriented spice rub is good for non-Hyrulean recipes as well!
Ingredients
½ tbsp ground thyme
½ tbsp ground sage
1 tsp ground rosemary
1 tsp ground oregano
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp ground anise
½ tsp mace
½ tsp black pepper
½ tbsp ground thyme
½ tbsp ground sage
1 tsp ground rosemary
1 tsp ground oregano
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp ground anise
½ tsp mace
½ tsp black pepper
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and blend together thoroughly. If you have a mortar and pestle, add the spice blend to the bowl and grind down until all spices are well blended and uniform in texture. Store in a jar until ready to use!
