GLAZED SEAFOOD

In the coastal village of Lurelin, generations of fishermen have perfected the flavors of a simple yet indulgent dish: Glazed Seafood. Combining the fresh bounty of Lurelin’s abundant seas with Courser Bee Honey sourced from the lush forests of nearby Faron, this dish embodies the village’s laid-back culinary tradition. Inspired by the glazed meat dishes found elsewhere in Hyrule, Lurelin’s version evolved over time, reflecting the community’s relaxed cooking style and openness to ideas brought through trade. By glazing tender fish filets with a delicate honey-based sauce, this dish highlights the region’s knack for balancing fresh, bold flavors with simplicity.

To bring this dish to life, we stay true to the essence of Lurelin’s approach. Fish fillets are seasoned and pan-fried to golden perfection, then coated in a glaze of soy sauce, honey, sake, and mirin to create a caramelized finish. Served alongside fluffy rice and fresh vegetables, this dish captures the essence of Hyrule’s coastal charm. The balance of sweet and savory flavors is a true testament to Lurelin’s vibe, inviting you to savor each bite as you imagine sitting on the shores of Lurelin, watching the gorgeous sunset over the Necluda Sea.

Ingredients
4 white fish fillets (such as snapper, cod, halibut, or haddock)
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup honey
2 tbsp sake
2 tbsp mirin
¼ cup flour
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp vegetable oil

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sake, and mirin. Whisk until all ingredients are well blended and the honey is fully incorporated into the sauce.

Season the fish fillets with salt and black pepper and both sides. Coat the fillets with the flour, shaking off any excess.

Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the butter and vegetable oil to the pan. Once the butter has melted, ensure the butter and oil is evenly distributed across the pan. Add the fish filets skin side down. If there is not enough room to fry all four without crowding the pan, fry them two at a time. Allow the filets to fry for 4 minutes and then flip. Fry for four minutes more.

If you fried the fish in batches, return the other two filets to the pan once the last two are finished. Turn the heat down to low, and with all four fish files in the pan, pour the glaze into it. Spoon the glaze over the top of each of the filets to ensure they are fully coated in the glaze. Allow the filets to cook in the glaze for 2-3 minutes until the glaze thickens.

Once the glaze has thickened, remove the pan from the heat. To serve, place one of the filets skin side up on a small plate and spoon a little additional glaze over the top. I recommend serving with a bowl of Hylian Rice and some vegetables. Enjoy!
