SPICED MEAT SKEWER


Goron spice is favored all across Hyrule as a means to add flavor to meals, meats and poultry in particular. This dish is one of the predominant uses of Goron Spice (besides curry). Meat is marinated in Goron Spice overnight and then grilled to perfection over an open flame.

Ingredients

1 - 1½ lb sirloin or New York Strip steak

1 small onion, sliced

3 garlic cloves, sliced

2-3 tbsp Goron Spice

¼ cup lemon juice

½ cup olive oil

To prepare the steak, cut it into 1 inch cubes. Try to cut them as uniformly in size as possible and no smaller than 1 inch cubes. Smaller cubes may cook faster and get tough.


Whisk the olive oil, lemon juice and Goron spice together in a bowl until well blended. Add the onion and garlic and stir. Add the cubed steak and toss with hands to evenly coat the steak with the marinade. Cover with plastic wrap and allow the steak to marinate in the refrigerator for 24 hours.


Before assembling the skewers, soak the skewers in water for 15 minutes to ensure they don’t burn. I recommend using 6 inch skewers.


To assemble skewers, slowly push the skewer through the center of the steak cubes, leaving a little air space between each piece of meat to allow even cooking. You can probably fit about 4-6 pieces of meat per skewer.


Once assembled, you can cook them a number of ways:

  • Air fry the skewers in batches at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, turning them halfway through.
  • Grill at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes over direct heat, turning them halfway through.
  • Bake in the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, turning them halfway through.

I recommend serving two meat skewers with a portion of Goron Whip to dip along with rice and either a salad or grilled vegetables (or Fried Wild Greens!).
