SPICED MINCED MEAT SKEWER

The skewers of Hyrule are one of best ways to highlight the meat of the kingdom. Simply grilled in pieces on an open flame, or seasoned with Goron Spice and given the same treatment, it’s a delicious and easy to make meal for any Hyrulean villager or traveler.

Having made the meat skewers in the past, and having created an original version of this dish using poultry, I decided to take another twist on the Hyrulean skewer, a minced meat skewer.

Drawing influence from kofta, these minced meat skewers are made from rolling ground beef into meatballs and then cooked on a skewer. The ground meat is seasoned with onion, garlic, and Goron Spice. Simple, but honestly delicious skewers. The Goron Spice works so well mixed into the ground beef. Accompanied by some Goron Whip for dipping, I’d be content eating a few of these fireside pretty much anywhere in the Hyrulean wilds!

Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves of garlic
¼ cup parsley, chopped
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp Goron Spice
Goron Whip, for dipping

Add the onion, garlic, parsley, and 1-2 tbsp of olive oil to a food processor and purée the contents.

In a bowl, add the ground beef, the vegetable purée, salt, black pepper, and the Goron Spice. Mix the ingredients together by hand until the ground beef mixture is well blended.
Before assembling the skewers, soak the skewers in water for 15 minutes to ensure they don’t burn. I recommend using 6 inch skewers.

Form the ground beef mixture into meatballs about the size of a golf ball. Once you have rolled all of the meatballs, they will be placed on the skewers. Push three meatballs onto each skewer, leaving a little space between the meatballs. Ensure each meatball is skewered through the center. Once you have formed all of the skewers, place them on a plate or tray and refrigerate them for 15-20 minutes.

The skewers can be cooked in a number of ways:
  1. Air fry the skewers in batches at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes, turning them halfway through.
  1. Grill at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes over direct heat, turning them halfway through.
  1. Bake in the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, turning them halfway through.
Serve two skewers with a portion of Goron Whip to dip! I recommend serving with rice and either a salad or grilled vegetables (or Fried Wild Greens!).
