MIXED TWISTED SMOOTHIE

Let’s take yet another trip down the Downfall Timeline to the Hyrule of Echoes of Wisdom, where even the busiest adventurers need a refreshing pick-me-up between dungeon diving and puzzle solving. In the bustling marketplaces of the kingdom’s towns you’ll find Business Scrubs blending and selling vibrant smoothies to weary travelers. These concoctions are as colorful as they are energizing, offering a perfect boost for those long days battling (or running from) Moblins or exploring forgotten temples. Among their creations, one stands out for its eye-catching design and deliciously layered flavors: the Mixed Twisted Smoothie.

“A nourishing blend of assorted ingredients on a flavorful pumpkin base.”

This elaborately designed drink combines the boldness of twisted pumpkin and the zesty spark of electro apple, creating a swirling harmony of orange and green hues. In this recipe, we recreate the smoothie with a slightly different twist, using canned pumpkin, crisp green apple, and matcha powder to mimic those vibrant layers. The pumpkin and apple coke together to create the orange layers, while the matcha powder will be used to create the green layers. The result? A beautiful, earthy, and slightly sweet treat that’s as fun to look at as it is to drink. Whether you’re a fan of Hyrulean cuisine or simply enjoy a good smoothie, this layered masterpiece is sure to delight your inner hero.

Pumpkin-Apple Layer
½ cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
1 small apple, peeled and chopped
½ frozen banana
¼ cup milk
¼ cup Greek yogurt
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp ginger
1 tbsp maple syrup

Green Matcha Layer
1 ½ tsp matcha powder
¾ cup Greek yogurt
1 banana
¼ cup milk
1 tbsp honey

Whipped cream
Red and blue M&Ms

First we will make the smoothie for the pumpkin-apple layers. Combine the pumpkin puree, apple, frozen banana, milk, Greek yogurt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and maple syrup in a blender. Blend until smooth, pausing to scrape the sides if necessary to ensure a uniform texture. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk. If it’s too thin, add a bit more frozen banana or yogurt to thicken.

Pour the mixture into a bowl or container and place it in the fridge while preparing the matcha layer.

Next, we make the smoothie for the matcha layers. Combine the matcha powder, Greek yogurt, banana, milk, and honey in a clean blender. Blend until creamy and uniform in color, ensuring there are no matcha clumps. Add a small amount of milk to thin it out or more yogurt to thicken, aiming for a slightly thicker consistency than the pumpkin layer to help with layering, if possible.

Pour the mixture into a bowl or container and prepare to assemble the smoothie.

Pour or spoon some of the pumpkin-apple mixture into the bottom of the glass. Fill the roughly ⅓ of the glass with this layer. Gently tap the glass on the counter to level the layer. Place the glass in the freezer for 10-15 minutes or until the layer is slightly firm to the touch.

Carefully spoon the matcha mixture on top of the frozen pumpkin layer. Start on the edges of the glass and work toward the middle. Make this layer about half the width of the pumpkin layer. Use the back of a spoon to spread it gently, ensuring clean edges. Place the straw into the smoothie now, and then freeze for another 10-15 minutes.

Add another layer of pumpkin with a spoon, adding from the edge toward the center again. Make this layer equal in size to the first pumpkin layer and level it with the spoon again. Freeze for another 10-15 minutes, then top off the smoothie with a final layer of matcha.

Once the layers are complete and set, top the smoothie with a generous swirl of whipped cream. Add a red M&M and a blue M&M on top  of the whipped cream to match the in-game appearance.

You may need to let the smoothie sit for a few minutes before drinking if the bottom layers got a little thick from the freezing. You can opt to just carefully spoon or pour the layers without freezing, but the freezing between layers helps ensure each layer has a smilies consistency to avoid them mixing together as you assemble.

Once the smoothie is complete, it’s time to drink it! You can blend the layers a little before drinking or just let them naturally blend as you sip. Either way, enjoy!
